The Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) presents a golden opportunity for international students desiring to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees at universities in Korea. In 2024, the Global Korea Scholarship program by the Korean government plans to welcome international students interested in graduate and undergraduate studies in Korea. Throughout the year, the Korean government extends invitations to international students from 156 nations for undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and non-degree research programs in Korea under the Korean Government Scholarship.

1. Scholarship for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
2. Application is through two tracks- Embassy and University. Select the most appropriate.
3. Scholarship is open to over 125 countries including Nigeria, Ethiopia, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Algeria, Uganda, Tunisia, Ghana, Georgia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Republic of South Africa, Rwanda, Libya, Burkina Faso, Seychelles, Sudan, Angola, Zambia, Cameroon, Kenya, and Cote d’Ivoire.
4. Korean Government Scholarship Program includes a year Korean language study.

Application Procedure and Deadlines for Korean Government Scholarship Program

Applicants have the choice to apply through either the Korean Embassy in their country of citizenship (embassy track) or directly to one of the participating universities (university track).

The deadlines for application submissions vary depending on the embassy or university responsible for the initial selection round.

For graduate programs, applications are open from mid-February 2024 to March 2024.
For undergraduate programs, the application period is from mid-September 2024 to October 2024.

 

Embassy Track

KGSP quota

The Korean government will select 86 international students through this track.
– General quota: 79 scholars
– Overseas Koreans: 7 scholars
Additional quotas include:
– Regional University: 86 scholars
– Associate Degree: 30 scholars
– UIC Program: 60 scholars

Embassy Track & University Track

For detailed information on application submissions, such as deadlines, required documents, and interview processes, applicants should consult directly with the organizations conducting the first round of selection (either the embassy or a participating university).

Eligibility Criteria the 2024 Korean Government Scholarship Program

– Applicants and their parents must be non-Korean citizens.
– Age limit for KGSP-G (graduate applicants): under 40 years old.
– Age limit for KGSP-U (undergraduate applicants): under 25 years old.
– Applicants must be in good physical and mental health for study in Korea.
– Educational background required:
– KGSP-G: Must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
– KGSP-U: Must possess a high school diploma.
– Academic performance must meet the following criteria:
– A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80% or above, or
– A CGPA equivalent to 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0 or above.

Students from a wide range of countries are eligible to apply, including but not limited to China, Japan, Russia, and many more across various continents.

Scholarship Benefits

– monthly stipend

– settlement allowance, and. -completion grants.

Duration for KGSP

– 1-year Korean language course followed by a 2-year associate degree.
– 1-year Korean language course followed by a 4-year bachelor’s degree.
– 1-year Korean language course followed by a 2-year master’s degree.
– 1-year Korean language course followed by a 3-year doctoral degree.

The scholarship is for study at universities in Korea.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should apply through the Korean Embassy in their home country or directly to a participating Korean university. For the university track, the Korean government will select 176 international students.
