National Teacher’s Institute NTI to release backlog of PGDE Certificates
The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Teacher’s Institute, Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir said that the institute has eliminated delay in processing and collection of certificates. The National Teacher’s Institute NTI have a backlog of certificates not yet award. NTI awards postgraduate diploma in education and other education related programmes.
Previously, many students have complained about the delay in awarding certificates years after completion of teacher training courses. The institute said on Friday, that results of 3,241 Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) students and 3,086 Pivotal Teacher Training Programme (PTTP) students are ready to be released over the next three weeks. This positive development is attributed to recently developed Students Results Management System (SRMS) for the purpose of electronic speed processing.
The NTI boss agreed that the institute had lagged behind in the deployment of ICT. Now, it has inculcated ICT in some programmes, operations and activities as use of course books (modules) as substitute to face-to-face interactions is no longer what distance learning is all about.
