NLNG OVERSEAS POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME
Nigeria Liquefied and Natural Gas Company is calling on qualified applicants to submit their entry for the 2015 Nigeria LNG postgraduate scholarship into Masters programme in the United Kingdom. The scheme is currently organised for NLNG by the British council in Nigeria.
Qualification
– Must be a Nigerian citizen, residing in Nigeria and below the age of 30
– Minimum of Second Class upper division in relevant field of study
– Completion of NYSC programme
– Possession of relevant document e.g International Passport, Certificate of Origin
Fields of Study
The postgraduate scholarships would be provided in specific fields of study related to the oil and gas . industry such as:
– Geoscience (Geophysics and geology)
– Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, Subsea, Oil and Gas, Petrochemical)
– Law
– Medicine
– Environmental Studies
– Management Sciences
– Information Technology

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDY
The Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID), which was inaugurated by President Goodluck Jonathan, through the National Universities Commission is currently advertising for applications to the third edition programme. The Scheme sponsors graduates with First Class Honours degree from recognized and approved universities for postgraduate study.
Eligibility:
- Must have completed NYSC by October 2014, not more than 30years, computer literate and ready to be bond and work for a minimum of 5years.
- Should aim at a postgraduate study in Nuclear physics, Operations Research, Industrial Chemistry, Quantitative Genetics, Biometrics, Molecular Biology, clinical sciences, dentistry, oncology, human genetics, forensic medicine, physiotherapy, nuclear medicine, geriatrics, ophthalmology, veterinary parasitology, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, nursing science, pharmacology, drug design, natural products, financial accounting, econometrics, aeronautical engineering, mechatronics, control systems, chemical process dynamics, process modeling and simulation, computer systems and software engineering e.t.c (list is not exhaustive)
- In Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences candidates must have a minimum of 2Distinctions in their part 3 and 4. MBBS examination or in their final results.

POSTGRADUATE TRAINING FELLOWSHIPS FOR WOMEN
The Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World announces its fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence (renowned research institutions/universities) in the South outside their own country.

Each fellowship will be offered for up to three years and will cover the following: – Travel expenses to and from the host institute; – A monthly allowance to cover accommodation and meals while in the host country, the amount of which will be determined in consultation with the host institution; – Refund of visa costs; – A contribution for medical insurance.
Qualification Requirements
Qualified young women science graduates must be below 40 years of age They should be from countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or LDCs. The minimum qualification of applicants is an MSc degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding BSc honours degree, in the natural sciences, engineering or information technology disciplines. Applicants already on site in the host country will not be considered eligible. The host institute where the applicant wishes to pursue her doctorate degree must be in a developing country other than her own. The applicant must be willing to return to her own country after completion of the fellowship. Guides for Applicants.
Applicants should complete all parts of the application form, and enclose copies of all university degree certificates, and the university-issued transcripts, which should include grades, courses taken, etc. If the applicant has already gained admission at an institution of excellence in the South (i.e., in a developing country), a copy of the letter of acceptance from the institution must be enclosed. If the applicant is registered for a doctorate degree at an institution in her home country, and wishes to pursue part of her research at another institution under a “sandwich programme”, a letter of recommendation from the home institute supervisor must be enclosed. Applicants must also submit a research outline for their proposed PhD programme. In the case of sandwich option applicants, the outline must make it clear which parts of the work will be carried out at the host institution. Two reference letters from senior scientists familiar with the applicant’s studies must be enclosed with the application in sealed envelopes OR must be sent by email to fellowships@owsd.net The subject line of the email must contain: OWSD/PG/candidate’s surname. Only signed reference letters can be accepted. Applications must be clearly typewritten in English and completed in all parts; OWSD will not process incomplete and/or illegible applications. OWSD will inform the applicant as soon as the application is processed. The application form is available as a MS Word document. 2014/15 PRESIDENTIAL GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP LIST RELEASED
The Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID), a postgraduate scholarship programme setup for excellent Nigerian graduates has announced the successful 2014/15 awardees. The scholarship initiated by the Goodluck Jonathan administration aims to give first class graduates from Nigeria the opportunity to study for a postgraduate degree in any prestigious university in the world.
The scholarship programme, coordinated by the National Universities Commission (NUC) began in 2012, with 101 first class graduate being awarded. This year (2014/15), 104 first class graduate would be awarded. They were selected after writing a qualifying test. Successful awardees [here] are to be in Abuja on Monday, 9th, June for briefing.
